Saved by the grace of God in February, 1993, and called to ministry in the fall of the same year, Pastor Steve left behind the family farm in Fort Payne, Alabama to follow God’s path for him. That path led through a youth internship in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Later that path would lead him into full-time youth and music ministries in Alabama and Virginia. In January, 2000, he left to attend Southeastern Bible College in Wake Forest, North Carolina, where he served as youth and music minister while earning a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies.  There, he met his sweet wife, Dawn, in the fall of 2003. They married in May, 2004, and now have two children, Samuel and Sarah Grace.

While at Southeastern, he recognized God’s preparation and calling to bi-vocational pastoral ministry and served in that role for a short while in Rainsville, Alabama.  God’s leading was back to school to earn a Master’s Degree at Southern Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky.  While there, Steve and Dawn enjoyed serving at Calvary Baptist in Seymour, Indiana.  After Samuel was born in 2008, Steve and Dawn moved back to Alabama with their growing family (Sarah Grace was on the way) to be nearer their aging parents.  They moved to the Gadsden area and served in churches in Attalla and Fort Payne until God opened the door in January, 2016, to serve His congregation at Steele Baptist where they simply feel “at home.”

Pastor Steve serves today bi-vocationally and has a small excavation business while Dawn works as a financial advisor.  They have a heart for missions and have been involved in many mission trips around the country and the world through the years.

Pastor Steve’s vision for Steele Baptist Church is to see it become the center of the community, being actively involved in ministering to the surrounding community in diverse ways.  Support and involvement in missions, from local to international, is a direction that SBC is moving towards.  Finding new ways to reach the world around us, near and far, with the gospel of Jesus is the heartbeat of Steele Baptist Church.
